To Note: Okna does not currently have a QMIN. However, we are told that an application was submitted before the deadline and is still in process.
There are many, many manufacturers that have not received 2025 certification yet due to technical issues with the program and a backlog of applications.
In May, the federal government stated that Energy Star (and associated tax credits) would be cut completely by October 2025, jeopardizing all potential tax credit submissions for 2025 and giving no real direction to manufacturers. There was no further news or direction until November, when the EPA retreated from their decision and decided to keep Energy Star in place, and ultimately voted to fully fund the program on January 8th, 2026. This process has resulted in many manufacturers waiting in limbo, including Okna.
With all of that said, the products that you purchased DO meet the performance requirements for the tax credit. Your options are to file for the credit now based on the imminent approval of the application (elimination or exemption for 2025 is also a possibility due to the difficulties), or to wait for things to be finalized and potentially file retroactively. We are not tax or legal professionals and do not offer advice as such, we recommend consulting a tax professional for the best course of action for your situation.
Latest update regarding the QMIN information (AS OF JAN 29TH, 2026):
We are aware that customers have been requesting the IRS QMIN for tax filing purposes to claim the federal tax credit on qualifying windows. Qualifying windows must meet the Most Efficient criteria, as outlined below, which is achieved through triple-pane glass.
There have been challenges and delays in obtaining this documentation from the IRS that are beyond the control of OKNA Windows. Nevertheless, we recognize the importance of providing this information and are making every effort to resolve these issues. Our team is actively engaged in pursuing a solution.Currently, we kindly ask for your patience as we work through this process. Please be assured that resolving this matter is a top priority, and we will share updates as soon as further information becomes available.Best regards,
